After finishing my article for our publishing magazine, Break Through, it was my job to hand the first draft of the article to the writing editors. Reading through the comments, I was shocked with the amount of flaws my article had. I couldn't believe how blind I was before I turned in my work. It was evident that the constructive criticism from my writing editors improved my article and as a learner I have shown growth.
In addition, it was my duty to provide constructive feedback to my finance executives and to my marketing team.
The finance group wanted my feedback on the companies and organizations they were proposing for the advertisement of the publishing magazine. As an individual that recently saw the list of organizations for , there was a lot of constructive criticism. I was deeply concern with organizations that had no relevance to the mission and vision of our magazine. Secondly, some organizations made our publishing magazine unprofessional. Once I provided the constructive criticism, the executives realized the flaws and were rethinking about the possible companies and organizations for the advertisement in our publishing magazine.
As for the marketing group, they wanted constructive criticism on the process in which they use to display the process of the project to the community. I proposed ideas and processes that were relevant to the marketing process in which professional companies use. Once I showed these examples they were shocked and they realized that they needed to improve many areas of the marketing sector; hence, it was evident that constructive criticism created an awareness to these individuals and it improved their work.
Furthermore, as a young learner, I have realized the effectiveness of constructive criticism, and with it I am able to grow academically. People shouldn't be scared of constructive criticism; it is a way to learn and grow as a learner.
